it's so stupid. the guy that did the scholarship talk at NYP today was confusingly irritating. on 1 fine day while i was still chatting with Mr.Chow (sleeping) they called to inform me that im eligible for their scholarship. so i thought wow? scholarship for Aeronautical and Aerospace Tech? that means i did pretty well for my O's. the best part of the phone call is the mentioning that there would be no obligation to the scholarship. and when i turned up, strictly speaking, ytd, i found out that they had fking scammed me.
the short guy wearing the zebra shirt started the talk"congratulation, all of you has been posted to your 1st choice." .. then he mention the scholarship which has no obligation for the 1st few minutes and that scholarship is simply useless and in fact i think the origin of that scholarship is so that they can say they are giving scholarship that has no obligation. then the rest of the talk was carried on by the other scholarship which HAS BOND. meaning it has obligation. that's not the worst. THE SCHOLARSHIP IS FOR ANOTHER COURSE. AND THE SCHOLARSHIP IS FREAKING ATTRACTIVE... so in short what the zebra man is trying to say is this " congratulation, you have been posted to your 1st choice and we would like you to transfer from "blah blah" course to this-and-that course."
come to think about it, the risk for this course with attractive benefits is pretty high. and i have no exact information about it. so, even if the rule "higher risk higher return" stays, nobody with a sane mind would want to gamble with 3studying years + 3 bond years = 6years!!.
someone in aerospace industry call this person AL
AL : India is very expert in this-very-attractive-course, so many singapore company employed them for cheap and good machinist.
Me: how u know?
AL: i employed indian precision engineering technicians for my company.they are better skill than singaporeans and only pay $900 a month. and i work so long alr. of course i know.
Me: wa? they can do nano tech and operate those state-of-the-art machines?
AL: i believes they can. "so-and-so company" is India IT Techno expert.defense industries use their techno
AL: INDIA IT is number ONE in the world now.

wtf? got so extreme anot? number 1 leh. what about Europe? Japan?
i think it's too extreme liao la. but it's also reasonable to say that foreigners are doing a better job at a lower pay. like last time, singapore sweep their own floor. but slowly, singaporean stop sweeping and foreign workers started the sweeping market. so now, this precision engineering has been seen as an less lucrative career and many has decided to leave it to the foreigners who feel that this job has good value. so why not give way for other people who might feel a higher level of satisfaction in this course.
however, no matter how hard you sweep, u will only sweep classified newspapers not classified jobs. so it's okay for foreigners to take over. but precision engineering could involve issue that's so closely related to the country and might be a threat to the national security. that's why they are hunting for local for the local demand in this aspect.
i think this initiative of the government might fail. cos the number of ppl that chose this course were few and there were only few good students. im not sure about the part-time diploma side la. but 5 years 2000 expert? wu koh leng bo? 1 year 400. i see the poly less than 200 for 1 year. some more is got scholarship 1 leh. part-time diploma? no scholarship. where got ppl want to study..
of course, this are my inexperienced point of view. i havnt see the world yet. so, what i've stated might not be accurate. surely, there are people who see it otherwise.
tmd, if only Aeronautical & Aerospace tech got scholarship.
the scholarships still sibei attractive. like the goose-laying-golden-eggs story
will lay egg de chicken, people would sell. in this case, will lay golden egg de goose, why need to find people so desperately.
dont think i've forgotten you,
